When to call?

It’s time. What’s next?

The delivery usually takes place between week 37 and 42 of your pregnancy. Which is 3 weeks before, untill 2 weeks after the due date. If the baby announces itself more than 3 weeks early (by means of contractions, loss of blood or amniotic fluid) call us immediately.

Call us whenever you feel it’s necessary

Every childbirth is different. You can call us anytime, whenever you feel the need. As a guideline, you can use the following:

Amniotic fluid loss
  • Clear or pink amniotic fluid, sometimes with flakes, is normal. If the membranes break during the day, you can call immediately. If this happens at night, you call the midwife on duty the following morning around 9 a.m.
  • Green, yellow or brown amniotic fluid? The baby then pooped in the amniotic fluid. Then call immediately, also at night.
  • If the baby’s head has not descended sufficiently (you would have heard that during our consultation hours), please call immediately in the event of amniotic fluid loss.
Contractions
  • If there are regular, strong contractions that last for at least an hour and happen every 4 to 5 minutes and last for about one minute.
Loss of blood
  • If you lose mucus mixed with a little blood, there is no reason to worry, this is normal.
  • However, if there is a lot of clear red blood loss, call immediately.

We usually come to you after consultation, in some cases we meet at the hospital.
